Bioplastic specialists, a German company Fkur, presented two new products in Nuremberg: biobased raw materials for barrier packaging and compostable materials for household films. The first one, launched under the brand name Terralene, is a new solution for food industry. The excelled barrier properties of this material enable products sensitive to moisture and oxygen to be packed in bioplastics while extending their shelf life considerably. Terralene is based on Green Polyethylene (Green PE) from Braskem derived from sugarcane. Thus, packaging from this material is fully recyclable and can be manufactured on existing production equipment. The second novelty presented by Fkur occurs in two types: Bio-Flex F 1137 and Bio-Flex F1138. These are new grades within the company’s resin portfolio for the production of films that are certified compostable (according to EN13432) and meet the high demands placed on household films. With bio-waste bags produced from Bio-Flex F 1137, it is possible to collect the organic waste at home in a hygienic way. The excellent moisture resistance keeps the water accumulated from kitchen waste inside the bag maintaining the waste bin clean and dry. Furthermore, products made from material offered by Fkur help collect and elimination of organic waste, which enables waste reduction and allows for reusing it as fertilizers. Additionally, carrier bags made from Bio-Flex F 1138, after multiple use can then serve as waste bags for the collection of organic waste.
