The annual edition of fashion week in New York, which last from 5 till 12 September, was all about ecology in fashion and "eco design”. That is why the America Plastics Makers and American Chemistry Council planned a special event during which at the corner of 8 Avenue they placed a vending machine that gave a limited edition T-shirt from recycled plastic for free. In order to get one, designed by NY fashion designer Allison Parris, the visitors just had to exchange it for a used plastic bottle. The designer is convinced that the universal textures and forms of recycled plastic can have many applications: from chic clothing, through evening gowns or stylish shoes. The vending machine project was supposed to emphasize that "eco design" is affordable for everyone.
